Warning About Swine Flu

The Center For Disease Control is posting daily updates on the spread of Swine Flu in the United States. The symptoms appear to be the same as regualr influenza. Here's the link to read up on it. http://www.cdc.gov/swineflu/index.htm

There are everyday actions people can take to stay healthy.

Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hands cleaners are also effective.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread that way.
Try to avoid close contact with sick people.
Influenza is thought to spread mainly person-to-person through coughing or sneezing of infected people.
If you get sick, CDC recommends that you stay home from work or school and limit contact with others to keep from infecting them.

Although it has only appeared in a few states so far, we all know how fast regular influenza spreads. Stock up on your Silver Shield now before it comes to your area. A teaspoon a day will help boost your immune system and if you have Swine flu, take a tablespoon twice a day at least to fight it off quickly. Another great product is Elderberry Defense. This helps in making the flu virus unable to replicate.

As always, you can contact us if you have any questions about any NSP products or if you have any other health related issues.

Make a Green Change

Did you know that April was Earth Month? That's because Earth Day falls on April 22nd. This is the month we're supposed to be more "green" aware, if we're not the rest of the year. As a matter of fact, some publications are calling this generation of kids, the Green Generation, because of their awareness and concern for green issues, like conservation and global warming.
Here's some tips from the Earth Day Network, http://ww2.earthday.net, on simple things you can do to make your home and life more green;

-Change your light bulbs to highly efficient compact fluorescent light bulbs.
-Drive your car differently; slow down, don't race your car's engine, and watch how long your idling.
-Your house – not too hot, not too cold. Try to keep the thermostat consistent, instead of changing it up or down.
-Tame the refrigerator monster. It's the biggest consumer of electricity among household appliances. Changing the adjustments just a little will save energy. And if that second frig has only a few items in it, unplug it.
-Turn the knobs down on your other household appliances. The hot water heater only needs to be set at 110-120 degrees.
-When possible, wash a few dishes by hand. Over time, that will save a few loads in the dishwasher, conserving energy.
-Go organic, eat locally grown food. If the food doesn't have to travel far, there's less CO2 from the trucks that ship it.
-Buy recycled.
-Be a minimalist, every time you buy something, energy has gone into getting that product to you. So the less you buy, the more you save energy-wise.

And of course, Nature's Sunshine has some great products to help you go more green and save you money too.

Did you know that the EPA states that the worst air pollution is inside our own homes? That's right! Airbourne hazardous and toxic chemicals inside homes have concentrations 2-5 times higher than levels outside. Here's two ways you can clean up that danger to your health.
First, properly dispose of all those hazardous and toxic chemicals. Second, buy Nature's Fresh and Sunshine Concentrate.

Nature's Fresh is a great product for just about everything and it's enzyme rich and all natural. We use it to clean spots from the carpets or clothes, as an air freshener instead of using chemically harsh plug-ins, as a vegetable wash for store bought veggies, and it even works great to stop the itch on insect bites and the pain on burns and sunburn.

Sunshine Concentrate is pH balanced, biodegradable and non-toxic. We do all our laundry with it, without using any other soaps. It's great for cleaning floors, counters, tables, any surface you come in contact with, because it won't leave a toxic residue like other cleaners. And after you've clean with it, you can actually use the left over water to water your outdoor plants. With the two of them, you can replace all the dangerous chemicals in your house, helping the environment and saving you tons of money.

Call or email us if you have any questions on other uses for these products. And please, send this blog to people you know who can benefit from using Nature Sunshine products. With your help, we can make our families and friends, happier and healthier, one person at a time.

Spring Cleaning

Spring is a wonderful time for new beginnings. After a period of slower activity in the winter, the whole world seems to speed up in springtime, almost as if we, along with the plants and animals, are trying to make up for lost time.
We often need or feel like we want to "rev our engines" a little bit in order to clear out the gunk in our systems. We can't wait, when the weather warms up a bit, to get out and work in the yard, walk around or ride a bike. We all love to open the windows and air out the house and clean out all the clutter from winter to make room for "new life" and activity.
Well, it's also a great time to clear out the body of toxins that have accumulated during the winter. Whether we realize it or not, we all tend to eat "heavier" foods during the winter months to keep us warm. These "heavier" foods take longer to digest and clear out of the colon and intestines, which means they can be re-absorbed back into the body and can sensitize various tissues in the body that trigger allergies and hay fever later in the year.

Nature's Sunshine has several products to give our bodies that spring cleaning that they need. Some of the herbal formulas that clean our blood are I-X, BP-X, Enviro-Detox and Milk Thistle Combination. The Tiao He Cleanse is also great for cleaning the liver and colon, conveniently packaged in a 10 day program. This includes the All Cell Detox, which is another formula that helps the tissues detoxify while supporting organs of elimination like the kidneys, liver, colon and lymphatic's.
If you'd like to purchase any of these products you can visit our website at www.mynsp.com/hometownherbs or if you have questions about any of the products feel free to call or email us. And if you know of anyone who might benefit from reading our blogs, please pass it on to them.
Spring is a wonderful time for new beginnings. So, now is the time to establish habits that will support your health over the coming years. Take the process one step at a time and enjoy the results from the efforts you make. It's a great time to renew yourself!
